Jon Goode is an Emmy nominated poet and playwright that hails from Richmond VA and currently resides in Atlanta GA. Jon has been featured on CNN’s Black in America, HBO’s Def Poetry, BET Lyric Café and TV One’s Verses and Flow. His work has been showcased in radio commercials for McDonalds, print ads for Nike and in television commercials and interstitials for TVLand/ Nick @ Nite. Jon's stage play Khalas was produced by Collective Consciousness Theater and the state of Connecticut in conjunction with the city of New Haven. Khalas was showcased in the 2013 International Festival of Arts and Ideas. In 2006 Jon’s work with Nick @ Nite earned him an Emmy nomination alongside the 2006 Promax Gold award for best copyright North America.
Jon has toured the country extensively with his work and received rave reviews from the litany of venues, festivals, colleges and universities he's appeared at. He has shared the stage with: Mos Def, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Common, Jamie Foxx, Musiq Soul Child, Will Downing, Tommy Davidson, Ledisi, The Last Poets, Amiri Baraka, and a host of other amazing poets, comedians and entertainers. Jon’s work strikes a balance between light hearted levity and life's hard truths that will have you laughing one minute and reflecting the next. He has been described as being somewhere between Gil Scott Heron and Bill Cosby, which is rarefied air and a wonderful place to be.
